MOSTRA
When I studied abroad in Italy...
We were all art students taking numerous studio classes. Every year, the program hosts a gallery opening featuring all of the students' pieces from the semester. Each student got to submit one piece per studio class.
In Italian, "mostra" means "show" and every year students can volunteer to design the poster that gets hung around the town. I pitched my design and it was chosen as the winner!
To make this poster, I bought drugstore bronzing makeup powder and crushed it up with a knife. I created the "MOSTRA" stencil with paper and an xacto knife and sifted my powder onto the paper. I manipulated the image I shot in Photoshop to transform it from brown to the brick red.I brought the image into Illustrator and added text.
I learned a lot from this project and loved seeing my design in the local shops and bars.
